Interim Principal Arrangements
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you know, Gavin Hosford will be leaving Green Meadows at the end of this term and so I thought I would write to you with clarification of the arrangements for leadership in the Academy after that point. Firstly though, I would like to express my gratitude to Gavin for the work he has done over the last seven years or so on behalf of your children. Gavin cares deeply about everyone at Green Meadows, pupils and staff, and I have enjoyed working with him over the last couple of years. I am sure you will join me in wishing him well for the future.
From September, Steve Tighe will become the acting Principal at Green Meadows to oversee the period before the appointment of a new Principal. You may remember that Steve spent a period of time working with Green Meadows earlier in this school year and so is a familiar face to pupils and staff alike. Steve is a very experienced school leader and has acted in interim roles such as this in the Wellspring Trust in the past. Steve will be visiting the school over the next few days and weeks to begin the handover process for this transitional period.
The post of Principal has been advertised and it is our intention to recruit a suitable permanent replacement for Gavin as soon as possible. I will keep you informed of developments in that process as I have them.
Kind regards, Scott
Scott Jacques, Executive Principal
Assistant Principal (SENCO) Appointment
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sophie Walker as the newest addition to our Senior Leadership Team at Green Meadows Academy.
Having led our partnership provision at Benton Park High School for a number of years, Sophie will be taking on the role of Assistant Principal SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) from September 2023 – she brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise in supporting students with diverse learning needs. With a strong background in education and a deep commitment to inclusive practices, Sophie is dedicated to ensuring that every pupil at our school receives the support they require to reach their full potential.
We are confident that her passion for inclusivity, coupled with her strong leadership skills, will greatly contribute to the continued success and development of the GMA community.
Allerton High Partnership Base – Meet the Teacher!
To our parents and carers of pupils in our AHS Partnership Base;
Suncream & Hot Weather
The warm weather has arrived!
On hot days we can’t offer the protection of shade to every child so it is incredibly important that children bring their school hats in to school every day. We also ask that all children wear sun cream to school which is applied before they arrive in the morning as this offers protection during the school day.
Our main aim is to educate our pupils about sun safety and recognising other ways to stay safe, for example, hats (ideally with long neck coverings), water bottles and staying in the shade.
Please see the letter below, regarding the use of suncream over the next half-term.
Comic Relief – Friday 17th March
This coming Friday we will be celebrating Comic Relief across all of our sites.
Pupils (and staff!) are encouraged to wear red clothing (and a red nose!) to mark the day, and if possible to bring in a £1 donation for charity.
We will also be holding a ‘Games & Toy Bring & Buy Sale’ so if you have any toys that your child no longer plays with or wants that you think other children might benefit from then please send them in!
Full School Closure
All GMA sites are closed today, Friday 10th March, due to the extreme weather conditions and heavy snowfall.
Parents Evening – Wednesday March 22nd
Our next Parent / Carer Consultation Evening is on Wednesday 22nd March.
The Class Teacher will contact you by telephone to agree a time slot in which to meet you. The event will be happening at all of our sites on the same day, so please speak to the teacher to book your appointment.
Snow Closure
All GMA sites will be closed from 1.30pm on Thursday 9th March due to the heavy snowfall. The snow is forecast to continue into the evening and we want to ensure that pupils and staff can all get home safely.
We will make a decision about tomorrow first thing in the morning – weather dependent.
